چکیده

background: the aim of this study was to evaluate apical transportation and centering ability of single-fi le instruments, waveone primary, with full rotation versus reciprocation movement using cone-beam computed tomography (cbct) analysis in curved mesiobuccal (mb) root canal of human mandibular molars. materials and methods: thirty mb canals of mandibular molars were randomly divided into two groups according to the instrument motion (n = 15): group 1, reciprocation/waveone primary; group 2, continuous rotation/waveone primary. after preparation, the amount of apical transportation and centering ability were assessed by evaluating pre- and post-instrumentation cbct scans in three section (1, 3, and 5 mm from apical foramen). statistical analysis of the data was performed using mann-whitney u-test and friedman test (α = 0.05). results: there was no statistically signifi cant difference between two experimental groups in terms of apical transportation and centering ratio at 1, 3, and 5 mm from apical foramen (p > 0.05). conclusion: apical transportation and centering ability of waveone primary reciprocating instrument did not signifi cantly differ between two motion patterns. key words: apical, cone-beam computed tomography, full, reciprocating, rotation, single, transportation

Centering Ability and Influence of Experience When Using WaveOne Single-File Technique in Simulated Canals

Introduction. WaveOne is a single endodontic instrument that reciprocates with a dedicated motor to shape root canal systems. The present study assessed the centering ability of this simplified protocol along with the effect of experience in simulated plastic canals. Methods. One experienced operator shaped two groups of simulated canals. Groups 1 and 3 each comprised 30 blinded L-shaped canals...

Comparison of Canal Transportation and Centering Ability of Wave One and SafeSider in Curved Root Canals Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography

Background and Aim: Maintaining the original central canal path during cleaning and shaping of the root canal system plays an important role in the success of endodontic treatment. This study sought to compare canal transportation and centering ability of WaveOne and SafeSider rotary files using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: This in-vitro, experimental study was ...

Centering Ability of ProTaper Next and WaveOne Classic in J-Shape Simulated Root Canals

Introduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the shaping and centering ability of ProTaper Next (PTN; Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) and WaveOne Classic systems (Dentsply Maillefer) in simulated root canals. Methods. Forty J-shaped canals in resin blocks were assigned to two groups (n = 20 for each group). Photographic method was used to record pre- and postinst...

Centering and transportation: in vitro evaluation of continuous and reciprocating systems in curved root canals

CONTEXT One of the goals of endodontic therapy is the shaping and cleaning of the root canal system. In recent years, there has been multiple systems instrumentation, and changes in their dynamics are central to maintain the original shape of the canal after preparation. AIMS The aim of this study was to evaluate centering and transportation in curved root canals after using ProTaper(®) and M...

Centering ability and dentin removal of rotary systems in curved root canals

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to compare centering ability and dentin removal of three rotary systems in curved root canals of extracted teeth. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty root canals of mandibular first molars with curvatures ranging between 25-35(o) were divided into three groups of 20 teeth each. Based on pre-instrumentation radiographs that assessed the angle and the radius of ca...

Influence of cervical preflaring on apical transportation in curved root canals instrumented by reciprocating file systems

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of cervical preflaring on apical transportation in curved root canals prepared using the Reciproc and WaveOne reciprocating file systems. METHODS Sixty curved canals were instrumented using Reciproc R25 and WaveOne Primary files, with and without preflaring (n = 15). A double-digital technique was used to digitally superimpose the...
